all the good usernames are taken but a lot of them are inactive or not being used anymore. this is because once a xat username is deleted it cannot be recovered because the xat account still exist but its no longer accessible. you can make a ticket and ask to release a username but mostly does that only for shortnames. this will not affect shortnames are those are bought and this will make more unused usernames more available and will prevent people from hogging all the good names that are not active. this mostly will affect usernames will long periods of nonuse or activity.

here is my solution: 90 day username policy

an automatic system for regular usernames this will not affect shortnames since they are bought but any username with 10 digit or more. does not affect people with power and will NOT be affected with permant deletion but they can risk inactive,  but they will not be deleted as long as they have xats days or powers.

after 30 days: account will be considered as inactive and nothing will show including xatspace until you reactive account via email relogin and check email.

after 60 days: account will be soft deleted (suspended). you can still recover it but this must now be done via ticket manually (proof of account may be required).

after 90 days: account will permanently be erased and the username will be released to reuse. account can no longer be recoverable at this point.

you can make a ticket about vacation and information how to protect your account while you are gone. either make a new department. this can be done to lock your account from  becoming released (or deleted). most people wont leave over 90 days but in case for those people who do.

90 days is enough I believe and you can always have the option to lock your account if your leaving for long time and this lock is not like the account lock but is a release lock.

even if you are locked your account may become inactive but will be protected however from deletion (or release).

30 days: notification by email your account is inactive and that you have 30 days to relogin.

60 days: notification by email your account is soft deleted (also known as suspended) but that it can be recoverable by ticket.

90 days: notification by email your account has been permanently deleted and that you can reregister again for free.

I don't really like this. Why delaying a department full of tickets due to this? This can really affect other users.

What would happen to your powers and all the stuff you had in your account? They would all just be gone and as you said, unrecoverable.

An alternative would be just releasing the desired username after a long period of time by opening a ticket (this may be a paid user feature; it feels more fair this way). Why deleting the whole account for this purpose?

added about xats, days and powers

as long as you have xats days powers your account cannot be deleted of any kind, but your account can still become inactive after certain amount of time.

most of it will be automatic and again will not affect shortnames or accounts with xats days or powers as long as they have something in their account.

maybe relogin and verify via email to reactivate your account?

is that better than making tickets

Part of the reason it is manual is so xat can verify if it's appropriate for release. This goes for any username. The filter isn't the best..

And yes, you can request for a regular name to be released at ticket. I suppose it's just not as common. We still go through the typical procedure of checking if they are inactive.

part of the automatic proposal I assure you that this will check activity/inactivity of an account that's the purpose of this and that's how it can ensure

it counts how often you login, last login and well as other things and it also checks if account has inappropriate words that xat filters and finally if  account is torched or deleted as well as last xats days and powers in that case it will stop account from being deleted if account has even 1 day, 1 xat or the even the smallest power.

this is not just about fixing how usernames get cleared and release but also for people who have multiple accounts and they never use them. people who hogs all the good names as well. this is about  a system where everything is more automatic and gets done faster and if done right will no longer need invertention therefore no longer manual.

in this proposal everything will be checked of the account and will consider everything about that account to ensure the best accuracy possible

I like the idea, yet not the amount of time.

the amount of time is negotiable

you can debate, I am open to changes

the idea is the main concept and any numbers or other details Is just a blueprint. this outline is not final but again I am open to any discussions or changes
