Safer codes for xat.me and groups

Such a good idea, but it would be confused for some users unless if there is a editor tab to do things directly instead of doing it manually or if there are generators created for that.

Or  can't we just keep the actual way, so we can use both ways if it's confused for some users.

Are we be able to use some javascripts one day? :3

Seems good, I've liked all of these ideas.

This should be //xatradio/player/4cd7d0c41.html

Same on youtube and these websites that support SSL / NON-SSL (just to not make conflicts) change https:// or http:// by //

could add a button for these bbcodes to the toolbar, for an example YouTube, it asks for the size.you want for the player and link. (you could even have a tick option to make it invisible).

EDIT: The tool bar on the editor, there should be plenty out there that let's you customize it

I think will cause conflicts because

If you are using HTTPS://xat.com/xat5 and the URL bellow is HTTP://site.com will be conflicted, same if you invert that.

To fix this is simple, you need to replace all HTTPS and HTTP to //, will be redirected automatically

More ideas for you:

[fb:PAGE URL OR NAME] -- Display latest posts from a Facebook profile

[fbbox:PAGE URL OR NAME] -- Display Like / Follow buttons

[twitter:PAGE URL OR NAME] -- Display all latest posts from a Twitter profile

I have a good and bad reaction to this BBCode idea, and I'll start with the good first.

This is good, because it will make embed a bit more secure, and more simple to understand in a way.

But this is also bad, because we don't know if this code convention will allow us to set parameters to the YouTube link freely. Like for example, turning on auto-play, or turning on loop, or even making a playlist.

Then with this coding convention, there's no a solid way to control the html with CSS unless we can set the id/class/name of the embed element.

About this of "youtube" will be nice if he add something like the atrribute "flashvars" should be:

[youtube:100:300:VIDEO_ID:?autoplay=1&variables=2....]

About the css, yeah we will can change, because he can add a name/id or class on that tag e.g id="ytb", class="ytb'..., or you can simplely change it using [width='SIZE']{your CSS codes here} or [height='SIZE']{your CSS codes here} because when you use it anyway will be parsed as HTML <iframe bla bla bla...

E.g: http://prntscr.com/ebtylm/direct - http://prntscr.com/ebtyo0/direct

I like your approach to it, Laming. For the flashvars, but maybe the format should be more like this:

[youtube:name:100:300:VIDEO_ID:autoplay=1&loop=1]

Then it will be loaded like this:

<embed name="name" width="100" height="300" src="https://youtube.com/embed/VIDEO_ID?autoplay=1&loop=1" />

We can't do a flashvars thing, because the player isn't always flash, YouTube has an html5 player too which people use as well.

Yes, flashvars was just a example, but that's the correct method you said xd

Its been reported that embed abuse is ongoing so I have removed embed from edit

it will be removed from all groups and profiles later

Who would like to help develop a range of [] codes to put back the missing functionality ?

If one of us makes a new post here with all the [] codes, it be easier for admins to see them all at once.

I will start, here are a list of codes that's been suggested:

[xatradio:500:700:player/4cd7d0c41.html]

[font:Open+Sans]

[youtube:name:100:300:VIDEO_ID:autoplay=1&loop=1]

[fb:PAGE URL OR NAME] -- Display latest posts from a Facebook profile

[fbbox:PAGE URL OR NAME] -- Display Like / Follow buttons

[twitter:PAGE URL OR NAME] -- Display all latest posts from a Twitter profile

[soundcloud:width:height:TRACKID]

You do mean something like this right?
