you hit the question mark on your keyboard and it makes your pawn a question mark

I think a command like '/help' would be better', or something that can't be done unintentionally. Otherwise, questions like 'How was your day?', 'What do you mean?' could trigger the pawn.

It'd probably be used to troll though. Meh.

I agree with this. Maybe they could make a rule about it.

Also, what if a person forgot to switch the pawn off, after being helped? Would they be punished too?

Maybe after being helped, the person can say remember to turn the pawn off, or a moderator can have the option to take off the pawn when they click the persons name.

I'm not really sure there are that many benefits to this pawn. If there really are a lot of people who actually need help, you can simply just make it your status or simply post in main saying people can pc you for help. Surely the help chat is a fairly popular chat for users to receive help. That being said, is a pawn targeted to mostly help chat staff and/or users helping really worth it? Does this mean we are going to make a testing pawn for users who are 'testing' on xat_test? Certainly there are many help chats across xat however you have to remember there is also a fairly large population outside of help chats where this pawn really wouldn't be used (atleast not for the right reasons). If we had a pawn for targeting only certain users, we'd have to have a help pawn, a testing pawn, a radio/music pawn, maybe even a selling or buying pawn etc. There also multiple different ways you can do this with the same purpose.

A pawn animation is quicker and easier to identify than reading everyone's statuses (arguably). People might use their statuses for other things too!

I agree with this. A message in the main chat allows the user to narrow down and clarify their situation, allowing them to get the best help for their particular context. With the pawn, it's a lottery whether the person PC/PMing will actually be able to help or not. Posting in the main chat also allows guests and members to help in public, rather than always going straight to PC, where their efforts may go unrecognized.
