At the beginning of a new month, someone from the Contributor group will post a topic providing a summary for discussions that were discussed in the Contributor section during the previous month. This is to allow the community to be more informed and have a better understanding of the Contributor group. If you have any concerns or suggestions that you would like to be brought to the attention of the Contributor group, message any of the Contributors.

You can see our previous logs here.

Concluded Discussions

These topics are concluded and are no longer being discussed. If you have any concerns about the conclusion of these topics, feel free to send a message and I'll see what I can do to help you.

Hide Volunteers

Spoiler

We discussed an idea from Kevin (1534069013) to make all volunteers and xat support workers anonymous. The objective would be to help prevent scammers from impersonating these users (e.g. by using their names or something similar). However, it was counter-argued that a public list of volunteers can help prove scammers are lying and keep the community even safer. Volunteers can also be a useful source of knowledge to the community and open tickets for users that request them. We therefore decided not to proceed with the proposal.

Contributors 2020 Feedback

Spoiler

We have now concluded the survey we opened for Contributors to provide their feedback about the group.

Ongoing Discussions

These topics are currently ongoing. If you would like to offer feedback and/or suggestions, feel free to send me a message, and I'd be happy to convey it to the rest of the group. You can also post a comment if you would like to offer feedback and/or suggestions.

Announcements and promotions via email

Spoiler

A member of the group suggested that xat could send promotional emails to users to announce events and updates relating to the website. This would be another way for xat to communicate with users alongside the forum and social media platforms, for example. There would be an option for users to unsubscribe from these emails if they wanted.

Reduce the price of promotion in the English language

Spoiler

We are continuing to discuss the idea to reduce the price of promoting chats in the English language. The current price to promote chats in English is 100 xats or 8 days per hour, which is more expensive than other languages such as Turkish and Romanian. Reducing the price could make promoting chats more popular with English-speaking users. It has also been suggested we review the prices for all languages, not just English.

Adding Appbot games to the Apps sidebar on chats

Spoiler

Our discussion continues about potentially approving and adding some Appbot games to the Apps sidebar on chats, making the games easier to play. Current Appbot games include HitMoles, CardMatch, PingPong, pawns, checkers, bingo and smileymatch, and the user requires the Appbot power to play them. The user also needs to follow a series of steps to set the games up.

Just to note, this would legally (EU ePR and GDPR) have to be an OPT IN feature, xat can’t just start sending emails without express consent to all its users.

by registering and having a option in register page to confirm if you wish receive emails could perfectlly be good since that there will also have a option to  users to unsubscribe from these emails if they wanted.

Although it isn't specifically mentioned here, the suggestion included an OPT IN feature & agreement for current registered users. Thank you for the reminder.

Yeah, that's my fault for missing it when I wrote these entries. Sorry.
