xat big again

xat it's already big and will continue big with us, it has some little issues but probably it's because xat is switching to Html5... and the flash version will stop working by the end of this year.

Well, now lets point something...

I think we don't need to make a image hoster, all we need is new image hosters unblocked on xat, actually only Postimages is working fine all others are trashy or paid services...

So, I will list some which should be unblocked on xat.

https://imgbb.com/

- most used by forums, phpBB etc by default, should unblock all subdomains (languages, assets, image servers)

https://imggmi.com/

- used a lot in random sites, should be unblocked all subdomains (languages, assets, image servers)

https://beeimg.com/

- used a lot in random sites, should be unblocked all subdomains (languages, assets, image servers)

https://tinyimg.io/

- used a lot in random sites, should be unblocked all subdomains (languages, assets, image servers) -- i liked it a lot

https://funkyimg.com/

- used  lot in random sites, should be unblocked only main domain (its for all)

@Admin up to admins decide to unblock them or not... All them are older enough 2007 etc... So its all trusted. (NO FLASH FILES ALLOWED!!!)

If all images needed approving before use, it would make simple things like changing your avatar more complicated. People like things to be instant.

Although the website could have cleaner content as a result, I'm not sure it's worth the inconvenience, along with the time and effort required of the approvers.

I think we should have one,

But not having it approved as Crow've said,

It should be something fast, easy to upload, no compress.

Uploading images on xat directly would surely be more user friendly, however having them approved first would defy its purpose so it should be instant as Crow mentioned

It may only problematic in terms of copyright and inappropriate images as xat may be held liable for storing them on their servers, however this is something that would have to be looked into (i.e. what are the laws, is a report image option enough and so on).

Regarding storage and its costs, this could be minimized if you only allow one image per registered account (unregistered users cannot upload images directly) or like one avatar / one pcback / one inner and one outer image (for groups) per registered account.

I've been reading this like twice already lol

first: I don't think we should be have an official xat hosting image provider when we already have many websites that can do it for free, it's just the matter of getting an approval for them (like xlaming said), then we're good to go.

second: having an external xat hosting image provider will help a lot, specially to all users that makes designs like avatars, pcback, backgrounds, etc... it's a good idea...

...but then waiting for an approval will take some time specially when you want to do numerous uploads and in the other websites you get it quickly. Also there will be issues about the server storage (the main issue) plus a lot more to look into it before the hoster image get released (like LaFleur said above).

In conclusion, I don't think xat/staff should be looking into this when there will be a lot to deep search first.  So far we're fine with the other websites.
