  1. If we didn't have a power that involves an AFK status then I'd consider it as a unique power with a unique function (including the pin power), but the best way to approach this to me is by adding away as a required power and include an automated message. I can't see the relation between being AFK and having a pinnned message in the chat while being away.

Just to include a visual reference to away for the newest power smiley, I'd like to suggest this addition to the smiley suggested by Rexor:

    1. The green pawn approaches the blue pawn

    2. The blue pawn glows while it shows the text bubble + include the away icon at the bottom right (as if away power was enabled)

    3. The green pawn walks away

  2. Over the last few years, I was one of those who thought that the term "volunteer" doesn't really reflect what a "volunteer" is and downgrades all of those who take their free time to moderate chats, create events, support the wiki is some different ways, and so on.

As of now, most users are out of the loop when it comes to volunteers in general: We don't know what you guys do, we don't know your entire set of duties and in most cases, volunteers ended up becoming inactive on xat based on "one" public task: answering tickets. We might know that volunteers have more tasks related to answering tickets but most people don't so it's underwhelming for them when they don't get answers, for example. What I want to say with this is that users might see your perspective differently if there were more transparency when it comes to volunteer duties.

I feel like you need dedication for the website and also a clear mindset when becoming one.

One of xat advisors uses the term evangelism, as in the culture of the brand (in our case: xat) needs to pose as a religion.
I use this analogy because I think that's what a volunteer should do in the first place. To spread the "xat word".

This is xat, not a sect. Being obsessed with xat should never be the key to become one.

In addition to that, I'm really glad that most of the community stopped glorifying volunteers as if they had the superior voice on everything they do and everything they talk about.

At the beginning of a new month, someone from the Contributors group will post a topic providing a summary for discussions that were discussed in the Contributor section during the previous months. This is to allow the community to be more informed and have a better understanding of the Contributor group. If you have any concerns or suggestions that you would like to be brought to the attention of the Contributor group, feel free to message any of the Contributors.

You can find our previous logs here.

    Concluded Discussions

These topics are concluded and are no longer being discussed. If you have any concerns about the conclusion of these topics, feel free to send a message and I'll see what I can do to help you.

    General Overview of Official Chats

    Spoiler

Our discussion has now concluded into the topic that was previously opened about the future of Official Chats. The conclusion reached is that Contributors will continue to evaluate Official Chats on a case-by-case basis. This is because each Official Chat has its own unique characteristics and values shaped by the communities which they serve, all of which have varying levels of user activity and staff.

    Helfen Redirected

    Spoiler

A decision was taken recently to redirect Helfen, the official help chat in the German language, to Assistance, due to a low level of activity over a prolonged period of time. Assistance is the official chat to receive help in all languages, and we hope to see you there. We also wish to thank DJCrazy and the Helfen staff for their efforts over the years.

    Ongoing Discussions

These topics are currently ongoing. If you would like to offer feedback and/or suggestions, feel free to send me a message, and I'd be happy to convey it to the rest of the group. You can also post a comment if you would like to offer feedback and/or suggestions.

    Help Chats

    Spoiler

A member of the group started a discussion into the future of help chats and the pros and cons of redirecting inactive help chats to Assistance. Suggestions were raised to merge Assistance into either Chat or Help, the latter option making Help an international help chat. Alternatively, a suggestion was raised to convert Help into an English hub that acts as both a help chat and a lobby. Our discussion remains ongoing.

The interesting thing about xat is that the informations are repeated as one says and the other continues, without verified information. The use of characters for emoticons and not for the purposes of abuse is harmless, because a company like Disney would certainly not deal with small sites like xat. The problem is that human imagination goes too far and everyone's opinion is allowed :)

This is not about human imagination, this is all about Disney suing xat for using copyrighted content and profiting from it.

It's not a bad idea and most people would enjoy a power like this one but it's unlikely to happen.
