I think everyone has thoroughly explained the effects of releasing limited powers. Just no.
Also, an auction is won by the highest bidder. Even if they are the same winners every year, that's fine.
I think it's all about entertainment. Black Friday is a date when users would expect a fun event. And, come on! "Fun" doesn't come down to an ID/power auction. Maybe this used to work in previous years, but I guess we got to adapt to the changes, right? The point is that there are many ways to celebrate and have fun on relevant dates, not just an auction.
Daily, many unofficial chat groups (mainly Latino community chats) host games and events, even with small prizes. However, these chat groups have more activity and interaction than any official chat. I think this is simple. Users want fun, win prizes, and compete. They get all this in these chat groups. Does this affect the market? No. Everyone gets fun? Yes.
As for the official groups, for example, last year Trade hosted the Blackfriday bingo in which many users participated. Also, xat Help has an events committee, and it has to be said, they have done an amazing job with events and games of any kind throughout this year.
I'm all for ID auctions, but these are more focused on the business and long-term profitability for those looking to resell these IDs. Also, the reality is that only a select group of users ends up participating in these auctions (Idk, 20 users maybe? Which in the end is reduced to 5 winners or something like that). I'll say it again, this is cool, and hopefully they'll make one soon, but xat still has an active community of many users just waiting to have some fun, and an auction doesn't fill this need.
