Apparently not. Seems like a front-end update for users only.
Well done with this update. Seeing an improvement in OST design and seeing it translated is good, something I've been waiting for quite some time. Looking forward to what's coming next.
That makes sense. Sounds like a good general update. For osTicket to be updated, they will have to do major changes due to all the customizations over the years. Probably best to start fresh, if that ever happens.

Was osTicket updated?

I thought I'd come out of hibernation to say that this is really great work! Congratulations to all involved in the ongoing efforts in modernizing the site.
I'd also note that I was thoroughly confused with the branding of this as #chats. I'm still a little confused actually. It appears to be a group of product changes branded as #chats. If it's for editing or creating groups, events, etc, I wouldn't necessarily brand it as #chats because it implies changes to the core chat product (although I know those changes are ongoing too).
Thanks!

@Solange, congratulations on becoming a volunteer!

I hope your situation gets better.
Well, I can say I'm doing pretty well actually. I just thought I'd check on this place.

How is everyone doing?

Oh my gosh, you guys are all making it hard for me. The things you're saying is so nice to hear.

I no longer do tickets, but I really appreciate the recognition. I have been a volunteer because I love helping xat and I love supporting people. For the past few years on xat, I have been helping people while doing what I love and having fun. At the same time, xat has given me a lot in my life.

Firstly, I must congratulate the administrators and all of the people contributing to the updates that we are seeing. I understand that it's not easy to build these things. Switching to HTML5 shows a commitment that is necessary to maintaining this website, so it's easy to see that this website is not being abandoned.
This post is a response to @SLOom. I have decided to post in this topic since it is relevant to this topic, and to avoid making the other topic go off-topic.
- When most people communicate, they are not speaking in literal terms. I did not mean, nor would it be reasonable to assume, that the redesign is exactly the same as the old design. Of course it's not. But how is a dropdown menu surprising? Am I supposed to say thanks for a dropdown menu that we should have had nearly a decade ago?
- It doesn't matter if it's in beta or if more features will be added. The general design of the chat box and its related features still hold the general design of 12 years ago.
- I did not mean that we should have used Bootstrap 4 specifically years ago. Why would you assume that I meant that? That doesn't make sense.

Additionally, you said this to Arthur: "It will never become harder to browse flash chat. Chrome is smart enough to add settings in their browser to still allow flash as well."
Please take a look at The Chromium Projects' Flash Roadmap:
-
Flash Disabled by Default (Target: Chrome 76+ - July 2019).
-
Flash Support Removed from Chromium (Target: Chrome 87+ - Dec 2020).

I'd say it mirrors deflation in a real-world economy. How do you fix it? Get more demand (more users) and decrease supply (fewer quantities of powers). As we saw with ruby, releasing expensive powers does not help.
1 hour ago, Arthur said:Interesting that the "new" design is actually the same old design with a fresh coat of paint. Nothing new. This is what we should have had many years ago, and what we should be seeing now is an actually new design.

At the beginning of a new month, someone from the Contributor group will post a topic providing a summary for discussions that were discussed in the Contributor section during the previous month. These logs will be closed for the time being. This is to allow the community to be more informed and have a better understanding of the Contributor group. If you have any concerns or suggestions that you would like to be brought to the attention of the Contributor group, message any of the Contributors.
You can see our previous logs here.

Ongoing Discussions
SpoilerA discussion was raised about whether to allow comments on the monthly Contributor logs. The idea is to allow users to provide their constructive opinions and feedback towards the decisions being made. However, objections were also raised that it would invite unnecessary drama. It was concluded that a public poll would be opened for whether the comment section should be left open for future logs. You can find the poll at the top of this post.
SpoilerA contributor brought up the idea to use statistics to help make more objective decisions for contributor applications. The idea is to collect public data such as the number of forum posts, the number of years spent on xat, the number of warning points (and many more variables) for each contributor applicant and to create a model of linear regression to estimate the probability of the applicant to be added. This model would be trained on past applicants (whether they were denied or accepted). Please note that each variable collected will not necessarily be used in the final model, so do not post nonsense to increase your post count and your chances. This will not work!
In the future, this would allow contributors to have an indicator of the merit of each applicant based on objective criteria. The main idea is to quantify the "contributions to xat" of an applicant in order not to rely only on contributors' feelings. The indicator will only be communicated to the current contributors. However, the purpose is not to robotify the applications. If an applicant has a low probability of being added according to our model, this does not mean they will not be added, and vice-versa.
A holistic review of each applicant is performed.
SpoilerA topic was created by Sydno, the new manager of Ayuda. The purpose of the topic is to gather feedback about operational changes at Ayuda. To provide an overview, here are a couple of the changes at Ayuda that are open to feedback: (1) Owners were made moderators; and (2) Interested users will be made members. The purpose of these changes is to grow interest for helping within the Spanish community.
The topic has not received feedback.
SpoilerA new power has been suggested by the administrators. At this time, we have decided to not disclose details about this potential new power. The administrators are also open to suggestions for how this new power would work.
Note: This discussion may never be concluded. If no updates are received about the status of this potential power, we may stop considering it an ongoing discussion.

I remember that this was discussed many years ago in order to make capturing scam proof easier for users. I think xat can do a lot with media on the website. They need to host content themselves, not rely on media websites like Imgur.

Ultimately, we should not be expected to change security protocols when they are industry standard. Facebook also has Code Generator, which is the same thing as the two-factor authentication method that xat uses. The method that xat uses is a standard and is used across the web, so it's the responsibility of the user to understand how it works if they wish to use it. Two-factor by using SMS is still secure, but less secure.

Exactly. This isn’t taking inspiration from another project. It’s copying.

If this was a copyright then they should have included the name of creator of the original stuff or something!
I'm not sure what you're talking about. You're basically saying that if someone doesn't want their work stolen, they should do a better job to protect it. If person/entity A wants to use person/entity B's work, then they must get permission by the owner or through the license agreement.
At least in the US, copyright works such that an author's work is protected the moment it's created. Absolutely no documentation is required to claim ownership.

Great idea and illustrations, but most of those aren't exotic. I could go to a grocery store down the street and pick up any of those. What about a horned melon or jackfruit? Those aren't available at a lot of stores, so although they may not be considered exotic by all definitions, they could work.

I can't imagine this being useful to any degree that would justify its existence.
What seems to be going on is that Pool Boot is being suggested in order to solve one or more problems, but Pool Boot is a bad power for what it's trying to solve. If there are inactive users, perhaps a better idea is to have activity time limits built into the chat, with related settings that can be modified with Gcontrol.

Judging from the deleted comments, some people are confusing the terms sex and gender. Gender is a social construct, and someone's gender identity may not fall under the classic binary model of man or woman.

I used to be an INTJ, and I loved that about myself. It gave me a sense of superiority, for some reason. I have changed a lot since those days of high school, and I like to think I'm more humble and compassionate toward everyone. A lot of experiences have shown me that I am no better than anyone else, and we all have traits that are good and are not necessarily better than any other trait.
