  1. I really like your suggestions. This one happens to be very user-friendly, which is something xat needs more of. As always, I'm happy to be the bridge to xat staff if you need me to bring things to their attention.

Honey on gelatin? Haven't heard of that before. I like the idea though! I can definitely see xat putting out this power.
  3. Do you want to send me the fix? I can forward it if you would like me to! Also, the same thing can be done for the Bad power. Does it fix that too?
  4. I brought it to their attention again.
  5. I only see one topic that applies, but I agree.
  6. This is not a forum game. Topic closed. Click here to read our guidelines.
  7. On xat we always seem to be required to do extra steps or do extra things. Features should be intuitive and easy to use, and this is an example of something that isn't easy to use, hence the suggestion. People go off-topic by suggesting workarounds when that's not the point.
  8. I'm listening to Rick Astley's new song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AC3Ejf7vPEY Risky click of the day!
  9. An unfriendly solution to an unfriendly user experience.
  10. You could also use a bot.
  11. It was removed because there's no reason to have an ID field if there's a username field. If you have the username, you can find the ID. There was also a lot of abuse. On the flip side, I have seen almost no one set an incorrect username. Another thing to note is that people often change their ID but keep their username. This is more future-proof (in case they forget to update their ID on the forum).
  12. @Christina Would it be enough to list only ticket volunteers on that page and just link to separate pages which discuss other types of volunteers? I thought this was the consensus.
  13. Please create a ticket to request this. You will need to be a paid user. Select the "General Question or Concern" help topic.
  14. I would like to clarify a point brought up earlier. The catalyst for removing forum moderators from that page was the fact that they now get their own special page on the forum. At the same time, we realized they are not really volunteers. Some of you might disagree with that, but I will stick by my words. They volunteer their time, but they are not volunteers in the way people on xat use the term volunteer. I can agree to linking to other pages. That sounds like a good solution.
  15. Based on the way we currently use the term volunteer, it would not be reasonable to suddenly start calling all these people official volunteers. What I'm saying is that in order to start doing so, we would need to change the way we refer to ticket volunteers.
  16. @Flake You bring up some interesting points that I can definitely agree with. It is certainly harder to become a smiley maker than it is to become a ticket volunteer. I'm not really sure what can be done to give them more credit. They are already on the volunteer page. I must add though that not just anyone with half a brain can answer tickets. In the history of all volunteers, I feel it's safe to say that not all have been as qualified to the necessary level. That specific point is a little off-topic, but I felt the need to respond to it. @Stah I would be lying if I said I didn't take a lot of pride in being a volunteer. It's no lie that many people really want to be a ticket volunteer. I personally worked hard for it, and I was glad I was finally recognized. I don't want you to get the wrong idea about what I'm saying, but I must note that there is something a little special in being listed on that page. It's so easy to become a wiki translator, and it's not too hard to become a wiki editor. What about becoming a ticket volunteer? It's so much harder, and it involves so much more responsibility. Like I mentioned, I don't want you to get the wrong idea with what I'm saying: It's not mainly about recognition, but I still feel the need to talk about it. What really matters it the idea that when anyone on xat uses the term volunteer, most people instantly recognize it to mean ticket volunteer. I personally would prefer a different term for ticket volunteers, but that's not how it's set up, and nobody can really change that now. I'm not really trying to make an appeal to tradition, but I'm sure you can agree it doesn't sound feasible to accomplish what you're suggesting. Your main concern is the fact that the term volunteer on xat usually refers to ticket volunteers when it should refer to other types of volunteers. Like I already mentioned in my first reply, someone can volunteer, but they might not be referred to as a volunteer. It sounds weird, but that's how it works. In order to start calling more groups of people volunteers, we would need to change the way we refer to a ticket volunteer. There would obviously need to be some type of unique way to refer to a ticket volunteer. We can't all just be grouped together with one term, because we all have different roles. It would send the wrong message.
  17. Of course there a lot of voluntary support roles on xat. That doesn't mean they should all be listed on one page or that they should all be referred to as volunteers. The reason, which I think you're forgetting, is that the term volunteer on xat means something more than what it means anywhere else. You have to take that into consideration. Do they volunteer? Yes. Are they a volunteer? Maybe, but probably not. It means something unique to be called a volunteer on xat. Whether we should change this is made mostly irrelevant due to the difficulty of such a monumental task. Our unique reference when we use the term volunteer on xat has been used for years. How could we suddenly change it? The message wouldn't get across very clearly and as effectively as it would need to. For some reason you think it's ridiculous that having a page with more listed people would confuse users. Yes, it actually would confuse users. It has confused users counties times in the past. It primarily confuses people whose native language isn't English. "[Insert forum moderator's name] is a volunteer?" That type of question has come up many times before, and we know each time that when the user says volunteer they mean ticket volunteer. Why is it so important that everyone who does something for xat be listed? "I've done something for xat, so I demand recognition!" That's not how it works, especially with how we (on xat) define the term volunteer.
  18. Dealing with harassment on xat can sometimes be very difficult, but it is something we deal with on a case-by-case basis. I understand your concern that not all users are being treated fairly; only paid users are able to open tickets about these types of situations. The problem is that most types of harassment are not meant to be dealt with through the ticket system at all (even for paid users). Essentially, the way the ticket system is setup now (with respect to reporting harassment) is intended. The reason some people have been recommending the Report scam help topic during ticket creation for issues that relate to harassment is because, firstly, it is a help topic that doesn't require the user to be a paid user. Secondly, tickets that use this help topic route to a department that obviously deals with time-sensitive issues. When harassment is really bad or when it involves a minor, this is completely understandable. However, I am not recommending the use of that help topic for reporting harassment and I would even say that it should not be used for such tickets. Currently, there is simply no appropriate help topic setup for reporting harassment, and I don't think that will change. Let's remember this important piece of the Terms of Service: "xat.com does not resolve disputes between users and does not guarantee that users will comply with our terms and conditions or otherwise behave appropriately. If you are the victim of offensive or inappropriate behavior or receive any other unwanted communications, you should use the built-in facilities to block the messages as well as seeking appropriate external help, for example from law enforcement authorities. If you continue to suffer problems, or are not satisfied, then you must stop using the service." This is quite blatant and it does get to the point: If you have an issue with a user, attempt to avoid them at all costs. If the harassment warrants the attention of law enforcement, xat encourages you to report the harassment to relevant law enforcement agencies. If a minor is being harassed to the point that it's illegal—meaning it may involve sexual harassment of some kind—we do encourage that it get reported as soon as possible. Since the ticket system is not currently setup to deal with this, I suggest going to the Help chat to find a volunteer. Alternatively, volunteers can be messaged at any time here on the forum.

  20. I agree that the filter could be improved. It blocks many words for no apparent reason.
  21. I'm listening to NO by Meghan Trainor. What's interesting about this song is that when she showed her new album to her label director, L.A. Reid, he said there wasn't a song good enough to be a single. That same day, she worked with a producer to come up with this new hit pop song which is now a lead single for her new album. According to Meghan Trainor, "L.A. played it 29 times—and we kept counting. I’ll never forget that moment."
  22. I don't really think more will be added.
