Since I have not seen any entries yet, I have extended the deadline of this contest by 2 weeks.
Countdown here: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20201109T00&p0=224&font=cursive&csz=1
The initial post has also been updated to reflect the new deadline.

Halloween wallpapers have nothing to do with games in order to have good models.
I saw your Halloween background. Unfortunately it won't be fitting for a general purpose. I mentioned above I am looking for a background to use each month for the chat, as I usually rotate backgrounds on a monthly basis.
-
I was recently asked about what kind of backgrounds I prefer, whether it be xat game theme, or any other games (such as Mario, Fortnite, Among Us, etc.). I would LIKE the backgrounds to have xat-related game themes, but submitting backgrounds of other game themes, or any mix of games is acceptable as well.

The event will be hosted on Saturday night for my timezone. It will likely be Sunday morning/early afternoon for others.

I just found out that I have a huge report due on October 18, and I will have to push the event to next week. However, I am in a time conflict. I usually host during the afternoon in my timezone, but in Press Your Luck, I had plenty of users when I hosted in the night time.
So given my timezone, and that it's likely later for just about everyone else, I will open up a poll as to when I should host the event. Keep in mind that when I say a day like "Saturday night" that also means it drags into mid-morning of the next day (12AM, 1AM, 2AM, etc.). When is a good time for me to host this event? The first part of the answer will be in my timezone, and in parentheses will be the likelihood of how much later it will be for other users' timezones.
For context, my timezone is Pacific Daylight Time (PDT).

I have added a recommendation to include a countdown to count when either:
- An in-chat event will start
- A forum contest's deadline has been reached
Information about adding countdowns can be found under the section "Deciding when to host your contest"
-
The initial post has been edited a few times to include some new updates and features that were not previously hosted on test runs. Also, the instructions for how to uncover all codes have been edited to be made more clear.
-
Good luck with GameBot. Unless the bug gets fixed, you better hope nobody else commands it.

Hello! I am trying to re-create a game I used to play as a child called Outnumbered! It is a game of puzzle, mystery, and luck!
Original game here: https://classicreload.com/super-solvers-outnumbered.html
Objective:
SpoilerOh no! The Master of Mischief and his henchmen robots Buffo, Lectro, Pogo, Rollo, and Turbo, have taken over the local television station! Your objective is to find where the Master of Mischief and his robots are hiding and foil their plans! To uncover information about the whereabouts of their hideouts, you can explore the rooms within the station and try to catch his other robot assistant Telly.
How to uncover room codes:
SpoilerWhen it is your turn, you can choose which room to explore. Inside the room will be a gameban puzzle. Complete the gameban within the time limit to uncover information about the room code faster.
There will be a total of 10 gamebans per player, 1 puzzle per room. If you pass, you uncover the entire room code! If you fail, you only uncover half of the code. You can explore the room again without having to complete another puzzle and the rest of the code will be uncovered for that room.
How to uncover the secret code:
SpoilerThroughout the game, after every few turns, Telly will spawn. Use command !catch to try to catch Telly before he runs away. After Telly runs away, the host will check to see who caught him, and whoever is on that list that used !catch, they will uncover 1 piece of the secret code! When Telly spawns, all players can use !catch to try to catch him.
Update 4: If you appear on the !catchers list more than once, you will uncover multiple pieces of the secret code!
Example: If you appear twice, you uncover 2 pieces. If you appear 3 times, you uncover 3 pieces, and so on.
Update 5: If the FEXBot does not work, I will use https://www.random.org/dice/ to generate how many pieces of the secret code you uncover when catching Telly.
- 1 and 4: 0 pieces uncovered
- 2 and 5: 1 piece uncovered
- 3 and 6: 2 pieces uncovered
Deciding:
This is the biggest part of the game, and you will either leave with some xats, or get eliminated from the game with nothing!
SpoilerBefore being able to decide where the Master of Mischief and his robots are, you need to uncover at least 4 pieces of the secret code and uncover at least 1 room code, or uncover all room codes for all rooms and at least 1 piece of the secret code. If you are confident you know where someone is, you can use command !decide when it is your turn and choose a room. But be careful! Picking a room where someone is not will eliminate you from the game!
Note: If you uncover all room codes, but not enough pieces of the secret code, you will be asked if you want to decide, or pass your turn. For each time you pass your turn, you will uncover 1 piece of the secret code, but once all codes are uncovered, you will NEED to make a decision! During this point, you cannot catch Telly to uncover more of the secret code after you have uncovered all room codes.
Update: If you uncover all room codes, but NONE of the secret code, your turn will be automatically passed, but you will uncover 1 piece of the secret code.
Update 2: Whenever a room is chosen, that room is eliminated, and so is the player. When a player chooses a room, they are eliminated from the current game and must wait until the next game to play again, regardless if the room they chose was an antagonist's hideout.
Sudden Death:
SpoilerEvery time a room is decided, it is eliminated as a possibility from every other player's decoder. When all of the wrong rooms are chosen, the remaining players will go into Sudden Death to see who will choose the remaining rooms first.
The Sudden Death round will be a Hangman puzzle. Whoever guesses the most correct letters will be able to pick a remaining room first. Whoever scores second place in Sudden Death will have to choose between 1 of 2 rooms, and the remaining player is automatically defaulted to the final possible room. Prizes will be awarded based on who is in what room.
If there is a tie in Sudden Death, the tiebreaker will be settled with rock-paper-scissors.
Update 3: During Sudden Death, any omitted codes not yet uncovered cannot be uncovered. After Sudden Death, when it comes to deciding a room, I will private chat your progress, and you have to guess within your own progress which hideout room contains the most xats.
How to correctly decide where an antagonist is:
SpoilerTo correctly decide where an antagonist is, you will need to compare the room codes you have uncovered with the secret code that you uncovered. There are match rules which determine where each character is.
For example, let's say the secret code is 2 5 8 1 4 7. And a few other room codes are as follows:
- Cartoon room: 0 3 6 9 2 5
- Staff lounge: 4 7 1 5 2 8
- Recording Booth C: 2 5 8 1 4 7
Each individual character will have their own match rule to compare with the secret code.
Examples of possible match rules:
- The Master of Mischief's hideout room has the same numbers, but a different pattern as the secret code.
- Pogo's hideout room has different numbers, but the same pattern as the secret code.
- Turbo's hideout room has the same numbers, and the same pattern as the secret code.
The Master of Mischief is hiding in the Staff lounge, Pogo is hiding in the Cartoon room, and Turbo is hiding in Recording Booth C.
Comparisons between the original game and my re-created version:
- I was able to make the game multiplayer-friendly
- There are a total of 10 rooms instead of 5
- There is more than 1 antagonist to find besides the Master of Mischief
- The quick math problems that must be solved when catching Telly have been replaced by luck similar to !pgo catch
- The word problems in the rooms have been replaced by gamebans
- There is no 9PM to 12AM time limit; the game ends when all antagonists are found, or when all players are eliminated
- Energy and score stats also do not apply nor is there an energy supply recharger
- Livewire obstacle is excluded from this re-creation
- You cannot see your decoder at any time; I only private chat your progress when it is your turn
- Follow-up to the previous point: You cannot decide where an antagonist is at any time; you can only decide when it is your turn
- Telly only zaps you when you take too long to respond and you lose a turn
What is the prize and budget for this game?
I plan to host a total of 3 games with a total budget of 25,500 xats. Prizes for finding the Master of Mischief and his robots are as follows:
Master of Mischief: 5000 xats
Robot 1: 2500 xats
Robot 2: 1000 xats
The robot names will change each game between Buffo, Lectro, Pogo, Rollo, and Turbo.
When and where will this game be hosted? Will FEXBot be needed?
The game will be hosted @ Game chat. I do not know exactly when I will be able to host this game, but it will be tentatively on October 25th @ 5AM GMT / 1AM EDT. I will reply to this thread again when the time gets closer to hosting, or I have to delay the event due to real life circumstances.
As for needing the FEXBot, it will only be used for trying to catch Telly and using a command !catch similar to !pgo catch, and also using !decide when it is your turn when eligible. I could probably do without the FEXBot for when Telly spawns, but the running away time will be less exact, and in place of the !decide command, you can just say you want to choose a room.
I still don't understand this game. Can I play a test run before the actual event?
Unfortunately not. At best, you should play the original game linked above on classicreload.com if you have never heard of this game so you understand the concept and at least some of what the main event will be like.
Recommended number of players: 7 to 10, although this can be hosted with as many players as possible. It will just take longer with the more participants, as there is a lot of note-taking on my part!
Hope to see you there!

Great idea @Goku! This chat needs more contests to be hosted, and lately I have been too busy in real life + kind of de-motivated to continue, so it's nice to see someone else step up to the plate! Great work!

Hey, what if your group password + your xat account password are the same? Are they case sensitive? Which would work, the password entered as the group password, or the xat account password?
What if INCIDENTALLY your xat account password is exactly the same as another Main Owner's (set by main power)? What would happen? Might I suggest a dialogue box that can say something like:
Spoiler"This password is linked to multiple xat accounts. Pick the account that is yours."
H********e
B*******t
Then after clicking your name, as an additional security measure, you get an email with a link to verify your identity, then when you follow the email link you would have access to YOUR Main Owner permissions in that chat group.

At the beginning of a new month, someone from the Contributor group will post a topic providing a summary for discussions that were discussed in the Contributor section during the previous month. This is to allow the community to be more informed and have a better understanding of the Contributor group. If you have any concerns or suggestions that you would like to be brought to the attention of the Contributor group, message any of the Contributors.
You can see our previous logs here.
Concluded Discussions
These topics are concluded and are no longer being discussed. If you have any concerns about the conclusion of these topics, feel free to send a message and I'll see what I can do to help you.
Appointment of new chat managers:
SpoilerIt was proposed that Contributors should NOT decide on the appointment of an official chat manager, and instead that only Volunteers should decide this. It was argued that the Contributors group is a communication channel and was not created for the purpose of choosing new managers. However, it was decided that nothing will change, and that Contributors and Volunteers as a whole will still help in deciding on new managers for official chats when essential.

With the development of HTML5 on xat, several chats are choosing the setting to default the normal web address to HTML5 instead of Flash. For example, this means that whenever someone goes to xat.com/Game, it will take them to the HTML5 version of xat instead of Flash.
Am I still able to use the Flash version of xat?
Yes, with this new setting in effect, the Flash version of xat is still accessible. Just add ?old to the web address like xat.com/Game?old.
What about the gamebans?
After some users and I did some testing, I am aware that some of the gamebans will work in this new HTML5 format. Some others still need to be developed to accommodate for HTML5. If a gameban does not load, it is likely not developed. In this case, contact an Owner or refresh the chat twice to get unbanned by the FEXBot.
Final note: This default to HTML5 setting will go into effect effective July 1st, along with some other changes, such as chat background, bot display, and the bi-yearly reset.
Thank you and happy gaming fellow xatters!
The following gamebans are compatible with HTML5: Codeban, Spaceban, Snakeban.

As you may have known, for the past 3 years, I have been moderating several official xat rooms at a time, which I call "xat patrol." Now, with much more real life responsibilities, I have lost the time and motivation to dedicate to continue to do this duty. For this reason, I have quit xat patrol.
What does this apply to?
This applies to my staff position on the following chats: Assistance, Chat, Help, xat_test, Loja, and Trade. I have also left their respective clubs on the forum as well.
Will you still be active on xat?
Yes, I will still be active on parts of xat. However, this is only limited down to managing Game chat, continuing to check the forum regularly, and answer to reports and messages. I will still keep my inventory on my xat account, and continue to host contests when I have the time. Recently when I had a short amount of time after work, I would only check those parts of xat, and only moderate the other chats when I had more free time. However, moderating the other chats is no longer the case, and managing Game by itself is still much of a responsibility. This time away from xat patrol will also give me more time to continue to manage and improve Game, and maybe even host more contests!
It has been a pleasure serving as a team member in most of the official chats of xat, but I cannot dedicate my time to continue to do this anymore. I will still continue to fill my role as a chat manager, a Contributor, a Verified Prize Holder, and, if needed, a helper! Cheers, and thank you chat managers for allowing me to moderate your chat!

each user can select their numbers and put them in their nickname! (4 or 5 numbers, from 1 to 90). And that's it, zero complications.
It seems that you and I have different approaches about this game. I never thought of Bingo that way with the users putting numbers in their names.

Hello everyone.
So today @Coolingman found something interesting, as to why GameBot leaves during gameraces, and after him and I did some testing, we found out what causes it! Whoever calls the GameBot using command !bot must be the same user who controls it.
Example:
In the example provided above, since I was the one who called GameBot using command !bot, I am able to use !start and !stop to start or stop the game on command.
It is also the same person who called GameBot that is the only one that can make adjustments to the !times and !prize settings.
Example:
As you can see, since I was the one who used !bot to call GameBot, I can use commands to adjust the game such as !start, !stop, !times, and !prize.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HOWEVER:
If a DIFFERENT user attempts to command the GameBot to make adjustments to the game, or to start and stop it, the GameBot just LEAVES the chat!
Examples:
http://prntscr.com/stg05n http://prntscr.com/stg0ba
This applies whenever a DIFFERENT user OTHER than the one who used !bot to call the GameBot attempts any of the following commands, causing GameBot to leave:
- !start
- !stop
- !times x y z
- !prize number
As for the !times and !prize command, the GameBot only leaves when someone other than the one who called GameBot attempts to make adjustments using those commands like !times 90 3 20, or !prize 50. However, the CURRENT settings can be viewed by anyone by simply using !times and !prize.
Example:
In the example above, my main account "[slowreply]Nathan" was the one who called GameBot using !bot, and my alternate account "Bowserbot" was able to view the !times and !prize settings in place. However, when Bowserbot attempted to adjust the prize, the GameBot left the chat.
IMPORTANT: Whenever ANYONE OTHER THAN THE ONE WHO CALLS GAMEBOT attempts to use !start, !stop, or to adjust the !times and !prize settings does so, that makes the GameBot leave the chat. It does not matter if the user is registered, or unregistered, or has the gamerace power or not. They were not one the one who called the GameBot using !bot, therefore they cannot make any adjustments to the game nor start and stop the game without the GameBot leaving.
This can pose a serious disruption to GameBot contests, as someone could command the bot midgame using the above mentioned commands, and the GameBot will STILL leave even DURING the game! Also, it does not matter if the other user Private Chats or Private Messages GameBot the commands, the result will be the same.
Summary: Whoever calls the GameBot using command !bot is the ONLY USER that is able to properly adjust settings to the game, as well as start and stop the game on command. If anyone else attempts to use the GameBot by commanding it in main chat or private chat, the GameBot will leave the chatroom. The only exception is when the differing user uses !times and !prize to ONLY VIEW the current settings.

I am thinking about hosting an event like this, but could take some work on my end if I do not have the proper resources to do it!
So far what I have in mind is making cards with random numbers in random places and players can choose which cards to have. Then whenever I call a random number using !random in FEXBot's private chat, the player could make the appropriate note on their card if the number was called to cross it out.
The only downsides to this though, I would also have to make notes of which numbers were called and cross them out on every card, so if someone calls out "BINGO" I will know if they actually received a Bingo or not.
